Steve Benen’s book Imposters: How Republicans Quit Governing and Seized American Politics lays out the thesis that Republicans are a post-policy party. They not only cannot govern, they do not want to govern. They have no interest in anything other than holding the levers of power. Trump is simply symptomatic. The party and Trump are walking down the path of destruction together. Unfortunately, they are dragging the country with them.
