(38,958 posts)Union members are Members of their particular Unions. The Union leadership works for the members and it is within their responsibility to report to their members the facts as they see them on issues that will have an affect on their members.
An employer does indeed have a right to their opinion and a right to express that opinion up to the point where it becomes voter intimidation. Telling their employees that they may lose their job if "Person A" is elected or if "Person B" is not elected to office just might be crossing that line. If my employer made such a statement through whatever means, they would get in return a lecture from me on the right to vote & the secret ballot along with a report to the appropriate Local, State & Federal agencies.
