(36,055 posts)I get that politics can lead to pork, and all the right wing warrior culture and white supremacist culture that goes with that, but then again, state politicians are in a position to know military needs in their state, and what the projects are, etc.
No, I don't trust Republicans to help with vets or anything involving numbers, when they can never produce accurate numbers and also lie about both census, covid and everything else.
Maybe it's a stretch, but I look at numbers the way that Nature looks at it -- Nature produces a LOT of seeds per generation, almost all of it wasted, but what is left to carry on fit perfectly to advance evolution. Or how an iceberg actually floats -- the bigger the berg, the farther its underwater base can carry it.
The reason for this is that I've seen what all the neoliberal right wing cheaping out on front end spending does to institutions like the childcare, health, education, the DOJ, the prison system, etc. The more we cheap out on the front end, the worse the outcomes on the back end. Corporations are always trying to talk us into cheaping out on all things human-based, but their projects get the bloat.
