We have only heard from one source that the "DOJ was shocked" by Hutchinson's testimony. There are thousands of DOJ employees. What we don't know is: how many expressed shock, and who they were. The DOJ employee, for instance, may have been shocked that what they already knew has reached the public's overall consciousness in such a pedestrian manner. Further, it was probably to the DOJ's advantage to "leak" the impression that they were kicked into action and are now pursuing criminals with their feet to the proverbial pedals. The DOJ thus is now being recognized for an emerging legitimacy in the wake of Bill Barr's thorough corruption of the Department he ruled. IOW, there's an emerging story line that, overall, gives the DOJ credibility and legitimacy.
