(3,215 posts)First of all, moving refugees to other states and locales, such as New York, San Francisco, Boston and Washinton D.C, is not, in and of itself, a bad idea. But it should be done in an orderly and humane way, with proper supervision and planning. Each time these LEGAL IMMIGRANTS are moved, government and NGOs should be alerted and prepared for their arrivals, so as to provide proper assistance.
When Republican Governor's round up these refugees to bus them to an unsuspecting location, in the dead of night, without proper clothing, housing, food or medicine, here's what I suggest.
The receiving city does what it currently does, which is to provide humane treatment in an orderly fashion. But here's the rub, the bus driver should be arrested for human trafficking and the bus confiscated as evidence. The driver will undoubtedly be bailed out, but the bus remains impounded until trial. That could take months or years. Who cares if there is no conviction in the end? What company wants their busses impounded and hire a lawyer to legally serve their driver. And maybe, somebody will turn state's evidence and a real case emerges. If no bus company will take this risk, that would force the Republican Governors to reach agreements with the host cities to move our fellow human beings to other locations in the aforementioned humane and orderly way.
