Ive lurked since DU first began, it was part of my awakening along with re-runs of Charmed and Stargate ha. I miss the days before the internet metastasized.
But books I *recommend* yikes
not really. I have a sibling that took the more scholarly route to analyze it that may be able to give actual recommendations, but we both were mildly irradiated by the Gordian knot logic that comes from reading their materials first hand (I do not recommend diving in that way). My analysis came from dozens of books on other denominations and religions resulting in a DIY comparative studies project. With a bit of extra spice from other sources to illuminate the background as well.
However I do recall some articles on DU about the subject if you search for them: keywords OCA, Orthodox Church in America, KGB, Russia
Heres a good NPR write up from last year https://www.npr.org/2022/05/10/1096741988/orthodox-christian-churches-are-drawing-in-far-right-american-converts
A couple others for good reads

And heres one from one of the few (often shunned) Orthodox blogs that doesnt shy away from criticizing these links, and its totally not a coincidence that the authors are located in Toronto instead of a US based university, theyd be censored in Florida for sure these days:
