It's sort of like a stock figure in old vaudeville, you know what's going to be said, what pratfalls will be performed, as soon as you see the entrance. It's the familiarity that's the charm, the enjoyment of having just what you expected to see playing out before you yet again. It would be a disappointment if the guy in the polka-dot tie didn't slip on a banana-peel and cry out Bwaa-hah-hah!
