26. Aw, darn

One of the joys of being a sprog's parent in the late 80s/early 90s was having a legit reason to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse. It was cute enough for the kids, but had its grownup moments that I could enjoy, too.

One of my favorites was when Cowboy Curtis (Laurence Fishburne!) came for a visit. He clomped over to sit on Sofie the Sofa and put his booted feet on the table. I'll let the dialogue do the rest...

PeeWee: Gee, Cowboy Curtis, you sure have big feet.

Cowboy Curtis: Well, you know what that means, don't you?

::: Perfect lingering pause with hyper-white Pee Wee staring fake-wide-eyedat black and beautiful Curtis::::

PeeWee: No, what does it mean?

Cowboy Curtis: Bigger boots!

Color the sprog bewildered when I fell off my chair laughing at that one. It was definitely *not* a joke for the sprog, but for the parents watching with their kids.
