(18,359 posts)Ready to vote for him if he is the GOP nominee (fewer in the primaries). We are talking about individuals who have PhD and Masters degrees in engineering, doctors, nurses, teachers, and scientists. It is almost a cult in North Dakota (my in laws get criticized for not being Republicans by their siblings) and nearly as much a cult in Iowa (I don't know how it got so bad so fast here). I won't even talk about West Virginia where my family is from (I went back in 2016 for my grandma's funeral and it was yards full of Trump signs).
Party over country. He just needs about 40% of the GOP to get the nomination (unlike the Democrats who coalesced around Biden in 2020, I don't see all the competing candidates doing the same for the GOP). We get to the election and it is a coin flip even if Trump has already been convicted (which is unlikely given it only takes one juror for a mistrial and he has several judges in his pocket).
It is like Huey Long writ large. Christo- and corporate fascism.
