In reply to the discussion: Poll: Latino voters trust Trump on immigration over Biden [View all]LeftInTX
(34,359 posts)Where I live most Mexican-Americans have roots in NE Mexico and came around the Mexican Revolution. (100 years ago). Alot has changed in Mexico since then. We can't deny that there are drug cartels and MS-13.
We also have alot of homeless immigrants where I live. Although homeless people are generally harmless, they increase the visible riff-raff. I gotta admit, due to the large amount of homeless people that were hanging out around a gas station, I carried my tools with me the entire time that I put up a campaign sign. I know homeless people prize little things like tape, screwdrivers and scissors. Accidentally, leaving these out in the open normally don't attract anyone, even in high crime areas. Even in high crime areas, if you accidentally leave a screwdriver on the sidewalk, get in your car and realize that you've forgotten it, you can go back and fetch it. However, homeless people will quickly take it. Loss of "little things" like these add up. There are many, many more homeless in Latino than Anglo neighborhoods. It's gotten crazy. They quickly steal $50 4 by 8 ft campaign signs and use them for shelter. I have had numerous stolen and discovered them in a nearby homeless camp.
We have tons of people sleeping outdoors around our migrant resource center.
Loss of a screwdriver may not seem like much, but if you're doing chores and it's the only one you are carrying......It's petty stuff, but it tends to happen more frequently than "real crime", hence everyone is sort of a "target".
