They reserve very expensive tables. However, if you volunteer you can sometimes get a free seat. (Although I've only gotten free $100 seats)

So, they will reserve the seat for a six figure funder, but oftentimes that six figure doesn't happen or the six figure funder pays and gives the seat away etc.
