In his view, there are two kinds of people. Those to be exploited (suckers), and him. He will not be running again, due to term limits or death, so he has no further use for them. Birdbrain and her constituents will be discarded as he would a lawyer, ex wife, a fisherman on a boat in the Caribbean, or teenager he has had his way with. He uses people until they are all used up. His contempt for others is palpable.
Birdbrain is using him too. Sensing that he is now a political liability, she is turning on him, just enough to try to keep her seat in congress.
