He likes to play the victim as if some "left wing lunatic" dug up something in a witch hunt, but in most cases he is his own undoing.
So he has to appeal until he finds a friendly court, probably spending half the settlement cost on legal fees. Typically, after he loses he'll claim he was completely exonerated.
