50. I think fear

is what it's really about. Whenever someone blames a victim, or implies that their plight is due to stupidity, it's just thinly disguised fear. The person has to rationalize, "this could never happen to me", rather than face the fact that bad things can and do happen to people, often through no fault of their own. They always seem to know exactly what the person should have done...
