A teenager who is accused of raping and beating a 93-year-old woman in her bed has been charged with first-degree murder.
According to the prosecution, Sergio Martinez-Perez entered Louise Sollowin’s home at 1921 S. 10th St. Sunday through an unlocked door. He allegedly pummeled and sexually assaulted her before falling asleep on top of her at about 9 a.m. Four days later, Sollowin died.
Martinez-Perez admitted to police that he did it “because he was angry at women after a night of drinking.”
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had asked the jail to hold him, an official there said. That is often an indication that the federal agency is questioning an inmate’s immigration status.
