I'm starting to get the feeling that Bank of America actually doesn't want to be in the business of servicing small consumers. Can a bank turn down customers/close accounts? I don't know the law here; is theer anything prevnting them from saying, say, "if you don't have $10,000 in deposits, we just don't want your money; you're more trouble than you're worth"? Because that's what seems to be going on.
