In reply to the discussion: 'We hid this during the election': Obama ally confesses he covered up 'race' video Andrew Breitbart [View all]Wait Wut
(8,492 posts)...besides that, I got to see the video last nite. I was stunned. I saw a young man with intelligence, charisma, conviction and courage. And then, I thought of his mother and grandmother. The two strong and independent women that helped mold this young man. The women that nurtured those attributes. I realized that they were both still alive then and hoped that they had the chance to see this video. They never got the chance to see his inauguration and all of his subsequent powerful speeches.
That young man grew up to marry another strong and independent woman. He's raising his daughter's to follow in these women's footsteps. This is a President who not only cares about women's rights, but is passionate about those rights. A man who admires strength in women and doesn't fear it. Who believes that they have the right and intelligence to know what to do with their own bodies.
I had tears in my eyes watching that young man give that speech. I saw the pride in that professor's face. I've been a supporter of Pres. Obama since shortly after he announced his run for the Presidency. I learned as much as I could about him, I watched every speech he gave. But, this video...this has possibly given me even more reason to support him.
I thought of something else. Where are the videos of Santorum, Romney, Gingrich or even Paul from their college days? What causes did they fight for? More beer at the frat house? Were they treating women with respect and admiration, or were they having weekend contests to see who could sleep with the most college girls? Release the videos, men!
I wish his mother and grandmother could see him now. Thank you to the Dunham women, and his grandfather, for raising our President not as a religious zealot, but a thoughtful, passionate, freethinking man. You did a fantastic job.
