(19,964 posts)It is because of that twisted logic that one of the simplest ways to reduce HIV/AIDs becomes problematic. If you live in a country where the majority religions reject contraception, there should be no need for condoms, right? Men especially don't want to be seen accepting condoms, as it might arouse suspicions that they are having gay sex. It's tragic. In some countries the more effective way to disburse condoms has been by giving them away to women, who in turn give them to their male partners. Women are more likely to accept them not because they suspect their partners are having gay sex but because they really want to limit the size of their families. In any case, it works. That is, if you have a charity willing to disburse condoms in the first place.
