4. I don't understand what banning gay marriage is supposed to achieve.

Is that supposed to make the world a better place? I don't understand what the intense motivation is about, when there are so many other problems the country is facing. I'm heterosexual, and I really don't understand. It's almost like a panic to block the gays, before they try to legalize gay marriage.
