(20,882 posts)In Ohio we're given the ballot that suits our registration. Independents can vote for either, but only one.
In Ohio many hard line conservatives brag about their independent status, but it was because Limbaugh ordered them to change during "Operation Chaos" so they could vote to put Hillary on the ballot instead of Obama. Only a minority did, and they're too lazy to change back.
Perhaps your state has open primaries where you can vote for both parties. In my opinion, that skews the will of the people because if I was voting in the Republican primary, I'd pick the wackiest nutjob possible and cancel the vote of an earnest GOP member. That would make Santorum look quite popular when he isn't. I wouldn't want to miss out on the Democratic primary just to throw a wrench in the GOP.
Do you pick either a dem or repub ballot when you vote in a primary, or do you get both? What state is this?
