4. i just sent this message to a couple of il state reps-

hey u 2- i was commenting on this article online this a.m. and was reminded of my pet legislation- add a question about head injury/concussion on school health forms. i know there has been work at co juvie to get brain images for some of the kids there. would love to know what they are finding. unlike most of the info on that form, this could be very, very useful info. for 1 thing- it could point to abuse in the home. but other questions about headaches, etc, could lead to at least treating some common symptoms. my youngest and i both were plagued w hallucinations that were seizures from head injuries. neither of us were dx’d w neuro issues, even tho my baby had a pedo neurologist treating her for sleep issues and headaches. and there are so many kinds of seizures that dont look like seizures. like staring off into space. we rly need to get our arms around mental health in kids, starting w realizing how much of kids issues are about brain health, not some disembodied ‘mind’. look at this article, and change the word football to bonks on the head.
