The author's objections are about the framing and he has legitimate concerns that the sabre rattling is misleading and may lead to aggressive action in an area with only a modicum of stability.

It's a sticky corner to be in. On the one hand, anything that increases the public's awareness of and willingness to participate in addressing the atrocities in areas of the world like East Africa is a-ok with me.

OTOH, I think it's important to be aware of possible unintended consequences. I think the author struggles with this as well.
