15. Exactly ... the images are similar ...

And they share plenty of underlying aspects ... I mention a few up thread in another response.

And beyond that ... they are also different.

As you note, one was ummm ... "spontaneous" (you said "wasn't voluntary&quot , but in 1945, I'm not sure which of those adjectives would fit best. I'm not saying that grabbing the closest women and kissing her is OK, but 1945 is not 2011. Things were what they were in 1945. Regardless ... that image is iconic.

And then the other image, as you note, is actually a real couple.

It is in my mind equally iconic because it is both connected to the 1945 image via the similarities , and then also because of the ways in which it is different.

Imagine an open discussion of the similarities and the differences in the media. I think that would be cool.
