I had seen this video before on Youtube and it shocked me. The fact that this took place at a Muslim PEACE conference made it even worse. The speaker was basically saying, "Yeah sure all Muslims agree that adulterers and gays should be stoned. What's the problem? We aren't being extremists. We are just following Allah's word." Uhh if he really believes that then he IS an extremist. No ifs, ands or buts. I found him very scary.
But at the same time I can't believe that all Muslims feel this way. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world and there has to be a range of opinions and beliefs just like there is a wide range of opinions and beliefs in Christianity. For every Fred Phelps there is a Mother Teresa. The same is true for Islam. We shouldn't paint all Muslims with one brush but at the same time we must also recognize that there are crazy Muslims out there who would kill those different than themselves. This is where discernment comes in. Embrace the good and keep an eye on the bad.
