(29,798 posts)50. Mister Kotter, Mister Kotter, Oo, Oo, Oo I have one too!!!!
Here's my Tom Clancy version
Actually, you see, this happened in East TX Bush country and it was approved by the 0.001% behind the BFEE (among others) who have decided that the possibility of a President Sanders must be guarded against.
To that end they are setting the stage for a repeat of 2000; only this time, they are aiming for a "permanent solution" for their democracy problem here in the US and to do it they need to deadlock the Supremes.
As it was clear that Scalia would rat them out because he was such an honorable and lovable rogue, not only did he have to go, but because of his he was the perfect trigger for their plan.
Now remember Florida 2000 just drug on and on with no solution, OK?
However, this time the deadlock will occur against a backdrop, not of Brooks Brothers suit clad operatives, but of the carefully cultivated and very heavily armed right wing militia waving their new Bundy Flag and taking over federal facilities all around the country.
The rudderless Federal government will be unable to react - paralyzed with lack of a clear mandate for any leader; this vacuum provides the window of opportunity for Ted Cruz to declare that he won the election. His first, immediate act being to declare martial law and mobilize the National Guard to "deal with the crisis".
Martial law will become the new normal as General President For Life Cruz is coronated.
That is a dark fantasy. What is real, however, is that the US really is special. We are the ONLY Presidential democracy that has survived any length of time without devolving into a military dictatorship.*
*Factoid that may or may not be absolutely true which I picked up in college class on fascism.
