5. I don't know really if it started as a joke then it wasn't or if he was always serious or

what. But, really he has to know that his remarks are going to hurt him a whole lot if not by tanking him being the nominee it will tank him in the general. So, I am thinking it was a joke from the beginning. And like you said he was surprised. But, it also seems he doesn't really want the nominations who says they could kill someone and then says women should be punished then says oh only doctors performing a medical procedure? It makes him sound like a crazy person. Even if he believes those things he has to be aware that most people would think those things he says are crazy. Therefore, I believe he is actively trying to sound like a nutcase to blow up his own campaign. I have no idea why he would do that. And he might even play it out to the bitter end at the convention. Maybe it's all just entertainment to him.
