8. Two party system

The presidential election is not the time for a "protest" vote. I learned this the hard way when I voted for Nader. Like it or not we are a two party system and one or the other will be president. If we choose to either not vote at all or check the box for a third party we indirectly vote. It was after my Nader vote that I concluded that the way to change the system and get a candidate that I liked was to get involved in the local Democratic party. I did and ended up being an Obama delegate to the Vermont State convention. We need to strengthen the Democratic grass roots.
