They don't help anyone if they don't actually become policy. That was my point - Sanders says lots of things I really like, but if it goes no further than that, a Sanders administration would be a failure. And I see little evidence that, throughout his long years of public service, the good things he says have turned into legislation.

Should Bernie run in 2020? [View all] tomhagen Dec 2018 OP

I think the No's have it. I agree. olegramps Dec 2018 #42
Hillary was crucified for suggesting this reality. maddiemom Dec 2018 #76
No, He isn't even a Democrat. Bernie had his chance. Don't rehash the election. trueblue2007 Dec 2018 #62

He would NOT have beaten trump, there is no concrete evidence that he would have. In order.... George II Dec 2018 #27
He went from nothing to serious opponent virtually overnight. guruoo Dec 2018 #57
Nor is there "concrete evidence" that he would 'not' have onit2day Dec 2018 #61
You have too much common sense for some in here LiberalLovinLug Dec 2018 #95
Well we'll never know, he wasn't our nominee. George II Dec 2018 #103
I may disagree with you on whether he could have beaten the douchenfuhrer rpannier Dec 2018 #109

As you said "Even if he doesn't get the nomination he will make the entire venture more progressive" tecelote Dec 2018 #59
Why not? It's about issues anyway and Bernie offers his own ideas about what the country needs. jalan48 Dec 2018 #8
So if he does NOT run as a Democrat, you still support his running? Eliot Rosewater Dec 2018 #10
I think anyone can run in the primary. jalan48 Dec 2018 #15
Which primary? Democratic primary? Eliot Rosewater Dec 2018 #23
Not at all. You're confusing the primary with the general election. jalan48 Dec 2018 #33
So you are possibly going to support a NON democrat in the primary? Eliot Rosewater Dec 2018 #68
Why make this personal? jalan48 Dec 2018 #89
Why not answer my question? I am not kidding around, either. Eliot Rosewater Dec 2018 #90
Good for you! I think if we focus on issues and not personalities we will have fewer problems. jalan48 Dec 2018 #91
Right, so if a candidate does NOT support a higher minimum wage or Medicare for all Eliot Rosewater Dec 2018 #93
I think we were originally talking about the primaries. Let's see who runs and debate the issues! jalan48 Dec 2018 #94
So there are 3 candidates in the 2020 election. Eliot Rosewater Dec 2018 #96
We just went through this. It's a no brainer. We have to support the Party nominee. jalan48 Dec 2018 #97
If it's a Democratic primary only declared Democrats can run. George II Dec 2018 #26
So all he'd have to do is declare as a Democrat? nt guruoo Dec 2018 #52
That's not all, he'd also have to comply with the rules of the Democratic Party.... George II Dec 2018 #53
Way too earily nt guruoo Dec 2018 #64
