Please don't take this as bashing democratic figures, it isn't. I like the guy. But he isn't as smart as he thinks. He is self absorbed and lives in a bubble of internal beliefs; which is fine. He is very talented at projecting those beliefs into film and in interviews.

But he isn't an oracle. He makes sense, but as he himself admits, it's a "sliver" of a chance.

His hopes won't come true. He and a lot of dems believe that because senators act in their own personal interest they will do anything they can to keep their seats. There is some truth to that, but it belies the reality that they have much more to lose than their seats.

The whole wingnut welfare industry exists to bribe these people beyond their terms. Everything from cushy corporate jobs, to think tanks, to k street, to administration posts, to tee-vee contracts. All of that is at risk if they buck the gop on key votes like kavanaugh or trump.

They have millions to lose in potential earnings once they leave the senate. And they aren't going to risk that. They would lose their seat anyway. They would be primaried and then forced into full retirement. Nobody would even return their calls.

This is what money in politics has bought. Absolute control over politicians.
