Because the last few days MSNBC has had higher ratings on the key advertising demographic. So if O'Reilly's argument is that you can't have a large audience without being "fair and balanced", the fact that they are losing market share must be an indication that they aren't offering a quality product.
Of course his whole premise is hogwash. They get ratings because they have found a tiny slice of the public that needs to have right-wing bullshit reinforce their racist, demented view of civilized society, and they need this reinforcement continuously. That's the business model, and the loss of market share must indicate that some of that tiny slice are coming out of the fog -- or else they are finding Honey Boo Boo more educational.
