As for "Facebook," or whatever it's called now, they don't have the advantage of the Cambridge Analytica or whistleblower news like we have here, confirming that it's a dangerous place to be - serving only as a moneymaker for its founder. And, as you said, it's gotten to the point that they can't trust anybody, reverting to the days of Stalin.
