I Have to Repair My Washing Machine - Yaay! [View all]

Lucky me!

Water fills just fine and doesn't leak. The spin cycle goes with no problem. It just won't agitate. It hums very loudly instead.

So, according to the sites I googled, it needs a V-Style drive belt and somebody to change it. The sites also said that it has to be changed every 2 - 3 years, depending on how much washing you do. My washer is about 9 years old, so I got away with it for longer than most.

I'm not scared. I installed my dishwasher and put in new faucets (hubby is claustrophobic and his shoulders are too big to fit under the sink). I've been putting together furniture since before Ikea was a thing. Coworkers check with me before calling IT to fix a printer jam. So I can do this.

Has anyone else done this kind of thing? Any horror stories, tips. or things to watch out for?
