I've got three of those, not the current generation, but from about three years back. I carry one with me at all times, including now.

I hate the Fire OS. I know you can jailbreak them, but I never got around to it. I've learned to tolerate the Amazon ads. I download apps from outside sources. I did not sign up at the Amazon app page, as it wanted my credit card number. Anytime you're asked for your credit card number, the concept of "this is free" goes out the window.

Kindle Fire models

Mine must be from the 5th generation. They were going for $39.99 when on sale. I bought my first from Kmart online, my second from ToysЯUs online (gee, it's as if there's some kind of pattern emerging) and my third at a yard sale, new in the box, last summer.
