My parents were big bridge players and this was one of the things my mom would make up as a dip. It was one of my favorite treats when I was given crackers and a small custard cup with some in it.
She also got me into loving cream cheese and green olive (w/pimento) sandwiches since she'd make those and cut them into strips for a bridge party occasionally too.
Thanks for the memory jog. I think I'll pick up some pimentos and such and make up a recipe for that spread next time my granddaughters come for a visit. Then I can tell them the above story for fun.
