(10,987 posts)Its bad for me because I can't digest it. It freaking kills me. I didn't always have the problem, it just started in mid-life for me.
Try going out to a restaurant and finding a dish that doesn't have it in it. Good luck.
But its in everything at the grocery store too. Tomato catsup. Tomato sauce. Lots of canned veggies. Frozen dinners. Salad dressings. Pork and Beans. Pizza. Chips. Sauces. Soups. Mixes. Anything you buy that has been spiced is full of it. I can't just buy a bottle of Ragu for making spaghetti sauce. I have to make all my own sauce from scratch. If I go to a party or picnic or any covered dish gatherings I can't eat anything except the breads and deserts. All because of the over-use of onion powder. I don't think this world could function without its onion powder. I would be willing to bet that many people who suffer from frequent heartburn are getting it from the onion powder they don't know is hidden in so many of the foods they eat.
