3. Names come and go - they fall out of fashion and then sometimes come back.

Karen is a very old name dating back to the Middle Ages - it's just the Danish/Norwegian version of Catherine. The Karen meme will disappear before long, and maybe the name will come back, or not. Karen isn't a fashionable baby name right now anyhow. I know a fair number of Karens, and also Susans, Nancys and Debbies who are my age (old), but hardly anybody gives their kids those names any more.
