What's on the menu for T-Giving Dinner? Are you blowing it off altogether, or are you going to try to recreate the traditional meal on your own?
I was considering just ordering Chinese food, but I decided to get in the spirit of things and ordered some groceries, so I will have a very basic T-giving meal since I have a very small studio kitchen and also do not want a huge clean up job.
I ordered a 4lb boneless Turkey breast, which I will roast. Will make mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing (Pepperidge Farm on the stove top - don't like mushy stuffing), either spinach or green beans, just sauteed in olive oil and garlic. Forgot to get any cranberries, but usually make my own cranberry sauce, however I decided it was too big of a recipe for just one person.
I also ordered cubed and peeled butternut squash, but they were out, and there is no way I am wrestling with a whole butternut squash. Last time I did that I practically sliced my hands to shreds.
I ordered a half Pecan Pie from Whole Foods, but they were out so they subbed a full pie, and got a pint of Talenti vanilla gelato and a pint of vanilla caramel swirl. I am not even a big sweet eater, but I am really looking forward to this dessert, since I love warm pecan pie w/ ice cream - hours after dinner. Or even a day after dinner.
Anyway, I am kind of looking forward to a low drama holiday this year. And being able to take a "no-guilt" nap after dinner.
How are you all feeling about things this year?
