Simple, tasty, sturdy, but not overpowering. You have to get the Red Oval Farms brand from Canada. They are the best.

I also love Finn Crisp Finnish Crisp bread. They are very thin, long rectangular crackers/crispbreads and come in a variety of flavors such as the original rye, caraway rye (my favorite), whole grain, multi-grain, sourdough, etc. They are made in Finland with the simplest ingredients, no preservatives or extras and they are very high in fibre, low calorie. Also, they are delicious. They don't go stale easily either.

Another great option is just to get a good crusty loaf of artisan French or Italian bread and cut it into smaller pieces (crusty on the outside, soft and yeasty on the inside). There is nothing like a really great loaf of well-made bread. It's also really great if you brush it with a little EVOO (and garlic if you like) and throw it on the grill for a few minutes.

I like Carr's Table Water Crackers, but they tend to crumble easily. However I love the delicate taste and the flavor doesn't compete with whatever you are serving them with.
