(24,299 posts)I'm a volunteer, and give a significant amount of time each week to work in a Food Pantry. I'm in my 8th year there and I love the work and interacting with the clients that depend on us. I too get a good feeling knowing I'm helping people in great need.
Since the pandemic the volume of people needing groceries has grown 3x over what it was a year ago. It's become quite hectic and at times tense. The work environment has become very intense and I've stepped back for at least a month maybe more, just to take a breath. When it became a situation where I was dreading going in, and was stressed, I just knew I had to let go for a while.
I know you don't have the luxury to step away from your employment. I hope at some time you'll be able to transfer to a less demanding and stressful environment.
Thank you for what you do at the clinic.
