How the hell can this technology, with its lack of tactile feedback, be anything but dangerously distracting?

As a cyclist and a driver I've noticed a big increase in distracted drivers the last few years. Lots of reasons, of course, starting with cell phones but those touch screens must play a big role also.

Hell, I still drive a car with manual transmission; I like to stay involved in the driving process and not tune out.
