(2,355 posts)49. Growing up it was straight across. Once grown, I realized, it's nicer diagonally (to me)
Also was able to break from mom's preferred brands of things like mayo, ketchup, and whatnot. It's amazing how those habits can be difficult to break.

Definitely diagonal--We were taught this in home-ec class so people eat in from the corners.
