Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant and Paul Newman... (although to a lesser degree than Marion Morrison).

It might just be that I have much more respect for these three than I do Marion, but I think they did it better and it seemed more natural when they played themselves. They were not doomed to play phony assholes.

Marion was doomed to play the "big dick energy" badass bar brawler war hero (in EVERY service from SeaBee to Flying Tiger).

So sick of that crap character being foisted on the young as an ideal.... (buy a gun, be a freakiong Hero).

Sorry... bad mood this morning. Watched the news.
