and that's a hell of a long time to be touring, so a lot of those people probably started going to nearby concerts way back when on their days off or even taking a couple of vacation days to go to a venue a state or two away. 2 concerts a year would add upp to over 100, easily.
The Dead Heads I knew were all young, all made jewelry or bongs or bought books wholesale, whatever they needed for gas money, the trust fund adequate for typical road food beyond what they'd brought with them. I knew about the trust funds because they bought things where I worked and paid for them with the checks.
