If I had to, it would HAVE TO BE Steve Marriot. Just for this single performance. And as singer myself, I would sell my soul, commit murder, what have you to have his tone, his range, and his control. If this performance was all he ever did, my answer would be the same.

My biggest influences would make the hair on me arms stand up. So here’s my other votes (along with they hair raising performances). As a singer, (or ex-singer anyway) ima gone list my top ten in no particular order….‘cept for Steve…

Sir Roderick David Stewart

Sir Robert Anthony Plant

Brother Otis

Tina Turner

Chris Robinson

Ann Wilson

Michael Jackson (Good GOD this fucking kid! I spent my entire adult life borrowing, honing, dialing in my voice. He had it at 12. I hate him! LOL!)

Sam Cooke (with Jackie Wilson who’s in my top twenty for sure!)

Paul Rogers

Of course there are at least another 20-30 that have been hugely influential on me. Van, Leon Russell, Howling Wolf, Hooker, Joe Cocker, brother Elton, etc. Plus some metal stuff from my early years. Don Dokken, Roth, Bruce Dickenson. But these are my top 10 that are always vying for the number 1 slot. Steve is never lower than 3 though, so he gets top honors.
