(15,673 posts)Fortunately, I took some sewing classes for other reasons, and I'm currently in the process of making five t-shirt quilts. All of them have been cut up and fusibles ironed on the backs (so I got a LOT of close space back), and they're divided up by Events, Destinations, College, Oklahoma (where I used to live), and Misc/Humor. Two of them are put together - just need to put a back on them. Need to get off my butt to get the other three (and some other projects) done.
Oaxaca, eh? One of my undergrads was Spanish, and my college had a program you could go on in the summer where you spend 5-6 weeks in Mexico, most of it with a host family in Oaxaca, where classes were held. A professor from the department also goes to teach whatever class you want/need as well as to organize trips and excursions. We also had free time, of course. Anyway, one of the trips was to a small town outside of Oaxaca known for their alebrijes, which is what I'm assuming you're talking about. I remember walking through a gymnasium-sized room with the floor filled with different ones. They were placed so there were "aisles," but I was still scared that I was going to trip and break them. Is any of your pottery the famous Barro Negro kind, also from the area?
