demoted him because Ian was older, stocky and square jawed, not a party animal. Stu didn''t fit the image of a rebellious rock band. Keyboardist Nicky Hopkins was more accomplished as was Billy Preston.

The present keyboardist for the Stones is Chuck Leavell. Best known for playing for the Allman Brothers, starting with the Brothers and Sisters album.
