(34,222 posts)i know it can be a very difficult adjustment.
my mom and i had been living together forever when she passed. i noticed her absence at every turn, with the day to day routines (what do you feel like having for dinner? should i make 6 or 8 cups of coffee?) (we were big coffee drinkers) (i'm gonna lay down for awhile. call me in an hour.) there were hundreds of little things and constant reminders. turns out she was my best, closest friend.
it took me years to adapt but i think that was more the exception than the rule.
i knew i probably needed grief counseling but couldn't afford it. i went through 8weeks of grief counseling when my dad died 20 years before and that helped tremendously.
perhaps that would be something for you to consider.
wishing you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
