(100,133 posts)120. I think the butter thing depends on climate. In SoCal Summer & Fall can be blistering...
so any butter left out would be a puddle.
In Hawaii the ambient temp is more comfortable as long as the trade-winds are blowing, but the ambient temp is still warm enough to make butter very soft to melted.
Since its subtropical there is also the problem of bugs, so as long as I lived there nearly every food item got stashed in the hermetically sealed refrigerator. Every woman I knew was devoted to Tupperware for dry goods like rice and flour.

TY niyad. I don't like mine cold. So I put in the cabinet. But it somehow finds its way to the refrig.

In the fridge but I take it out of the fridge 1 hour before using so it isn't so cold. Same with mustard.

Out in Fall, Winter early Spring... Refrigerator in hottest part of summer (I use very little A/C)
