Your primary care physician could refer you to an orthopedic doctor, who would know much more about back issues than she does.
Also, I know this might sound crazy, but have you tried medical marijuana? I've heard it can actually relieve pain in some cases.
(You should definitely check with your PCP before trying it)
Anyway, I hope you're out of pain soon.
