(82,786 posts)23. A sudden death is easier on the deceased, but much harder for the family.
Oh yes, I had a dear little doggie who had inoperable cancer, she has to be put down.
I stayed with her for the procedure. As long as I was with her she was calm.
She needed me with her or would have been agitated and fearful.
When it was over I cried like a baby. It was so sad and such a shock.

So sorry. It always sucks. I've had to do it several times with cats and dogs and it's never easy.
